Privacy policy.
What we collect through this website, why, and the rights you have over it.
Who we are
This website is run by Attewell Hardwicke & Leahy Ltd (company number 11839157), registered office Unit 4, 19 The Quadrant, Marshalswick, St Albans, Herts AL4 9RB. We are the data controller for personal information collected through it. You can reach us at info@attewellhardwickeandleahy.co.uk or 01727 761816, or by post at the address above.
What we collect
Our valuation form asks for your name, phone number and, if you choose, a property address and a message. Pressing the button opens your own email app with a message addressed to us. Nothing reaches us unless you send that email. Our Terms of Business form asks for your name, email address, contact number and, if you choose, a property address. When you submit it, your details are saved in a private file on our website hosting, and Google's email service sends them to us. We also record the IP address of the device used to submit the form and look up its approximate location, and both are included in the saved file and the email. We also receive whatever you tell us when you email or call.
How we use it
We use your details to reply to your enquiry and, if you ask us to, to provide our lettings and management services. If you request our Terms of Business, we use your details to get in touch about letting your property. We use the IP address and approximate location to help spot spam and misuse of the form and to see roughly where enquiries come from, based on our legitimate interest in running the form securely and understanding our enquiries. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, or our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We do not sell your information or use it for marketing without your agreement.
Who else is involved
We share information only where needed to run the business or where the law requires it, for example with our email and website hosting providers, and with Google, which sends us an email alert when someone completes our Terms of Business form. Google may handle these details outside the UK. FreeIPAPI, a service based in Germany, receives the IP address to look up its approximate location. Our property search links take you to Rightmove, which has its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries only for as long as we need them to deal with you. If you request our Terms of Business and do not become a client, we delete your details within 12 months. If you become a client or tenant, we keep records for as long as the law requires. Our anti-money laundering policy explains how long identity records are held.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, restrict how we use it, or transfer it. You can also object to how we use it. To do any of this, contact us using the details above.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
